課程重點

本課程特點是一份網路資源和論文作業的清單，探索亞洲、非洲和拉丁美洲民主發展。

要求：

所有同學都應做到下列要求：

1、課堂參與：學生必須參加每週一次的課時，準備好討論所有指定的閱讀資料（每週約100頁），並積極參與課堂討論。請注意，我們對本課程組成部分的課堂參與是非常嚴肅認真的。如果你不得不缺課，必須提前通知導師。未經允許曠課超過一次，會明顯影響你的課堂參與分。還有，無論是什麼原因，如果沒有準備好參加當天的課堂討論，你必須在上課開始時通知我們。

再者，超過一次未經允許的"無準備"將影響你的課堂參與分。

除了常規的課時，同學每週與助教一起進行一小時的復習課。參加復習課是必要的，它將計入你的總體參與分。

4、3篇簡短的（7頁）寫作作業。

5、3小時閉卷的期末綜合考試。

評分：

分數由下列內容決定：地圖考試（5%）；寫作作業（45%）；期末考試（20%）；課堂參與和課堂辯論（30%）。

剽竊條款

寫論文（或考試論文）時，必須表明你的智力成果的性質及範圍，曾受惠於哪些所讀文章的作者或你的想法從其他人處得來的（比如，同學，客座講者等）。你可以利用註腳，參考文獻，或其他的學術工具來注明。未能表明你借鑒他人的研究或思想就是剽竊，而這被認為是最嚴重的學術犯罪並將遭到相應處理。如果你對應如何證明想法來源有疑問，請在提交作業之前詢問導師。你也可以參考Gordon Harvey 的《利用資源來寫作》 (Hackett, 1998)一書，該書和其他課程閱讀資料放在一起。
