本課是為全憑觀察與實驗的社會科學建立健全的研究基礎而設計。本課涉及的是社會研究基礎的假設與邏輯，而不是特別的技巧。學生將熟悉各種研究設計的方法，並在輔導下發展他們自己的研究設計。This course is designed to lay the foundations of good empirical research in the social sciences. It does not deal with specific techniques per se, but rather with the assumptions and the logic underlying social research. Students become acquainted with a variety of approaches to research design, and are helped to develop their own research projects and to evaluate the products of empirical research.
