A special "Images" section is featured for this course, "East Asia in the World." Class topics from "The Sixteenth Century Global Economy" to "Contemporary Issues in the Light of History," are listed, along with all required readings. The site includes China in the Early Modern World: Shortcuts, Myths and Realities, and two chapters, all written by Professor Peter Perdue, in the Related Resources section.
課程描述
本學科探討東亞與世界各國的互動，以及東亞國家之間的關係，涵蓋年代為西元1500年前後至2000年，主要焦點為中國與日本，也觸及韓國、越南和中亞。我們的質疑是，國際外交、商業、軍事、宗教及文化關係如何與東亞社會內部過程結合，以主導東亞社會的發展；我們還會討論東亞人與外國人對彼此的了解與誤解。
Subject examines the interactions of East Asia with the rest of the world and the relationships of each of the East Asian countries with each other, from ca. 1500 to 2000 A.D. Primary focus on China and Japan, with some reference to Korea, Vietnam, and Central Asia. Asks how international diplomatic, commercial, military, religious, and cultural relationships joined with internal processes to direct the development of East Asian societies. Subject addresses perceptions and misperceptions among East Asians and foreigners.
