Description

The goal of this course is to understand the transformation of visual stimuli into signals recognized by the brain. All the senses are discussed; vision is covered most extensively, with topics including the perception of color, motion, form, and depth. The way we will approach this study is through answering the following questions:

How do the senses work?
How do physical stimuli get transformed into signals in the nervous system?
How does the brain use those signals to determine what's out there in the world?

Requirements

Students are required to produce visual illusions, and a web site demonstrating and explaining why these illusions work. See the details on the assignments page.
