Using AVG
Boot into Windows.
When you launch Windows, AVG Anti-Virus will show that it is running in the system tray.
A closer look at the system tray
Double-click the system tray icon to launch the application in a windows.
Click on "Check for Updates" to make sure you have the latest, updated virus definitions.
Click on "Internet" to download the updates.
A progress window will indicate your update status.
Scan a file or folder "on demand" by right-clicking it and selecting "Scan with AVG Free".
A progress window will indicate your scan status.
When it is finished, it will indicate whether or not you have a virus.
