Design Review Details

Format

Poster session, not more than 4 sheets of paper, ~1-3 people per session X 4 sessions

Reviewers: ~8 people

Timing

Presentation 5 minutes, discussion 5 minutes, reviewers fill out feedback forms 5 minutes, there will be a timer.

Content

Opportunity

Why this should be done, who needs it (who is our customer), meets an important need

Objectives/Goals: What will be done this semester, deliverables, how the product advances in the product pipeline (Instructors will present pipeline concept beforehand)

Approach: Acceptable by community, addresses need, objectives achievable by mid May

Hardware (required): Sketch models, prototypes, drawings

General Tips

• Show hardware as appropriate, not necessarily everything (for clarity).
• Focus on the leading concepts, if you think something is a bad idea, don't spend much time on it.
• Practice your presentation and time it.
• Write down any good feedback from reviewers after each presentation (or have 1 person designated note taker).
• Avoid small text in your posters, no one wants to read a lot.
