本课是为全凭观察与实验的社会科学建立健全的研究基础而设计。本课涉及的是社会研究基础的假设与逻辑，而不是特别的技巧。学生将熟悉各种研究设计的方法，并在辅导下发展他们自己的研究设计。This course is designed to lay the foundations of good empirical research in the social sciences. It does not deal with specific techniques per se, but rather with the assumptions and the logic underlying social research. Students become acquainted with a variety of approaches to research design, and are helped to develop their own research projects and to evaluate the products of empirical research.
