2 讨论:为安装作准备
Discussion: Preparation for the Installation
实践课程和安装的潜在理念都来自于学生的个人经历和情感,而且这些会在讨论和制作过程被发现。实践课程会在麻省理工学院礼堂连续花费四小时来体验时间流逝中的空间/材料/形式/结构。
The ideas behind the studio and installations all came from the personal histories and emotions of the students, and were discovered through a process of discussion and making. The studio spent four hours consecutively in the MIT Chapel, to experience space / material / form / structure over time.
3 安装
Installation
学生沿着麻省理工学院走廊按原始大小进行安装。在安装中考虑到空间的布局、居住和占有,这些都与时间和伴随规模改变而发生的改变相关。
The students built their installations at full scale along the corridors of MIT. Topology, inhabitation, and the occupation of space were all considered in the installation, all relative to time and the changes that occur along that scale.

Discussion: Issues

The studio took on the following issues as a method of discovering architecture: The cyclical nature of making / gravity, phenomenology, materiality / perception / social life and the culture of students / renovation and recreation of life in space.

Models centered around the issues raised in the installations, and related to the program of the student center, were discussed.

Models depicting the nature and relation of materials were created and discussed.

Discussion: Site
此时,计划已更加清晰明了,也找到了项目的地点。现在问题变得更加实际:机械和构造学/特性和地点/学生占据特定空间/从一般中找出特点。
At this point, the program has become clearer, and the site for the project is discovered. The issues now become more real: Mechanism and tectonics / nature and site / student occupation of specific spaces / making the specific from the generic.
